Damian Aylward – Physiotherapist
Damian Aylward is a clinical physiotherapist with over 27 years experience in sports injury and musculoskeletal management.
He is the founder of the Bounce Physio ‘Fit 4 Life’ program. His vision is to bring about a culture of change in the preventative health-care management of the musculoskeletal system and he is passionate about creating better long-term health outcomes for our clients.
Damian trained as a Physiotherapist at the University of Queensland, graduating in 1988. He worked both locally and in the UK, gaining invaluable hospital experience.
A year’s work as the sole Physiotherapist in Longreach (attending outlying towns including Birdsville and Muttaburra) in 1991 gave him great exposure to all types of conditions.
Returning to Brisbane he became more focussed on sports injuries and worked closely with a number of sporting teams, including Wests Rugby Union Club. This involved the management and treatment of a number of elite sportsmen including the Qld Reds and Wallabies.
In 1993 Damian started his Practice at Birkdale. He retains a keen interest in sports injuries but has developed a general Practice catering to all musculo-skeletal injuries and all family members. In the last 23 years, his Practice has become the Market Leader in the Bayside region. Both he and his staff continue to strive for excellence, and he prides himself on the fact that “Word of mouth” is still its greatest source of referral.
Believing that a team approach provides the best outcomes for patients inspired Damian to found the Bounce Physio ‘Small Group Learning’ sessions. Held every few months, he invites medical specialists (including Neurosurgeons, Orthopaedic surgeons, Sports Physicians, Radiologists amongst others) to present to his team and a number of local GP’s. These sessions are invaluable for continuing education, and creating a strong referral network of health professionals to benefit his patients.
